Our Sanctuary Crew

Mildred “Millie”

Age: Very Senior

Role: Retired Princess

Interests: Eating hay and rolling in the dirt. Millie is prone to laminitis so her days of grazing in the field have sadly come to an end.

Millie came to us in Sept of 2023 through the help of Horse Angels. She was bring tossed out by an amish community down in PA, and in her seniors years and with only one eye, I was worried about her future fate. After a paid bail and 30 day quarantine, she made her way up to Massachusetts for greener pastures to live out her golden years. Unfortunately in recent discovery, Millie can no longer graze and requires a dry lot to keep her healthy and her feet sound.

Bits

Born: Not Sure!

Role: Scrap food eater, rooting around in the mud and taking long naps

Bits came to us in a unique situation, where the owner moved towns and no longer had the ability to keep her sweet pet pig, Bits, and needed to find a soft landing where he will be loved and enjoy the simple things. Bits has taken some nice field strolls and visited the neighbors when he first moved in, as we knew pigs were smart, but we didn’t know how smart! He figured out a few rooky mistakes when it came to latching the gate, but know we know his quirks. Bits keeps Millie company, as he had been with and around horses his whole life. The two have built quite the bond and keep each other company here at Hidden Willow Farm!
